Born on August 2, 1955, Butch Vig became one of the most influential producers in rock history before co-founding Garbage in 1993. As a producer, Vig helped shape some of alternative rock's defining albums, including Nirvana's Nevermind, The Smashing Pumpkins' Gish and Siamese Dream, and Sonic Youth's Dirty. With Garbage, Vig returned behind the drum kit, helping create a unique blend of alternative rock, electronic music, and pop that produced hits like "Stupid Girl", "Only Happy When It Rains", "Push It", and "I Think I'm Paranoid". Few musicians have had a greater impact on the sound of modern rock from both behind the mixing console and on the stage.

Born on August 2, 1951, Joe Lynn Turner became one of hard rock's premier vocalists through his work with Rainbow, Deep Purple, Yngwie Malmsteen, and numerous solo projects. Joining Rainbow in 1980, Turner helped the band embrace a more melodic direction with albums like Difficult to Cure, Straight Between the Eyes, and Bent Out of Shape. His powerful vocals can be heard on songs such as "I Surrender", "Stone Cold", "Death Alley Driver", and "Street of Dreams". Later, he fronted Deep Purple on Slaves and Masters and continued to build an impressive career that has made him one of the most respected voices in hard rock.

On August 2, 1984, Black 'N Blue released their self-titled debut album, introducing one of the Pacific Northwest's finest hard rock bands to the world. Produced by Dieter Dierks, the album blended melodic hooks, crunchy guitar riffs, and polished songwriting that would soon become staples of the 1980s glam metal movement. Featuring songs like "Hold On to 18", "School of Hard Knocks", "Chains Around Heaven", and "Auto Blast", the record showcased the strong guitar partnership of Tommy Thayer and Jeff Warner along with Jaime St. James' distinctive vocals. Though commercial success came slowly, Black 'N Blue established the band as a respected force on the hard rock scene and laid the foundation for albums like Without Love and Nasty Nasty.
