Born on August 5, 1947, Rick Derringer first found fame at just 17 years old when his band The McCoys topped the Billboard Hot 100 with "Hang On Sloopy" in 1965. He went on to build an extraordinary career as a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, producer, and session musician, working with artists including Johnny Winter, Edgar Winter, Steely Dan, Alice Cooper, Cyndi Lauper, and Kiss. As a solo artist, Derringer scored his signature hit with "Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo", while his fiery guitar work on Frankenstein and Free Ride with The Edgar Winter Group cemented his reputation as one of rock's premier players.
