Born on September 16, 1964, Dave "Snake" Sabo became the guitarist, songwriter, and co-founder of Skid Row. Growing up in New Jersey as a childhood friend of Jon Bon Jovi, Sabo briefly played with an early version of Bon Jovi before helping form Skid Row with bassist Rachel Bolan in the 1980s. His muscular riffs and twin-guitar chemistry with Scotti Hill helped drive the band's explosive debut Skid Row and the heavier Slave to the Grind. Songs like "Youth Gone Wild", "18 and Life", "Monkey Business", and "Slave to the Grind" made Skid Row one of the defining hard rock bands of their generation. Active professionally since the late 1970s, Sabo has remained a central force behind the band through decades of changing lineups and shifting musical landscapes.

On September 16, 2003, Story of the Year released Page Avenue, their debut studio album and the record that launched the St. Louis band into the heart of the 2000s post-hardcore explosion.
