Born on September 2, 1946, Billy Preston became one of the most gifted and sought-after keyboardists in popular music, bringing gospel fire, soul, funk, and rock together with an unmistakable sense of groove. A child prodigy, Preston performed with legends like Little Richard and Ray Charles before becoming closely associated with The Beatles during the turbulent final years of their career. Preston played on "Get Back", "Don't Let Me Down", "Something", and other recordings from the Let It Be and Abbey Road era, with "Get Back" famously credited to "The Beatles with Billy Preston." He later became a major solo artist with hits including "Will It Go Round in Circles" and "Nothing from Nothing", while also working extensively with The Rolling Stones and numerous other artists. Often affectionately called the "Fifth Beatle," Preston was far more than a legendary sideman. His keyboards helped shape some of the most enduring recordings in rock, soul, and funk history.

On September 2, 1977, Thin Lizzy released Bad Reputation, their eighth studio album and another essential chapter in the band's remarkable 1970s run. With guitarist Brian Robertson participating only partially in the sessions, Scott Gorham carried much of the guitar work alongside Phil Lynott, Brian Downey, and producer Tony Visconti, resulting in an album that was lean, confident, and unmistakably Lizzy. On September 2, 2022, Megadeth released The Sick, the Dying... and the Dead!, their sixteenth studio album and a ferocious statement from Dave Mustaine following his battle with throat cancer. Rather than retreating, Mustaine returned with an album filled with rapid-fire riffs, technical precision, and the thrash metal aggression that had defined Megadeth for decades.
